A substantial model engineer-built LBSC “Mona” 3½ inch gauge 0-6-2T live steam tank locomotive, complete with the section of display track shown.
This is an older, traditionally constructed coal-fired live steam locomotive with a copper boiler, twin-cylinder arrangement and three coupled driving axles with leading and trailing wheels. The locomotive is comprehensively fitted and appears to have seen considerable use during its life.
The chassis and wheels turn over freely by hand, although it has not been steamed for the purposes of this listing.
The backhead is fitted with pressure gauge, water gauge, regulator and associated valves and copper pipework. The smokebox door opens as shown, providing access to the smokebox and internal pipework. Please study the photographs carefully for the construction, fittings and mechanical arrangement.
There are no visible identification or serial marks on the locomotive's boiler, although such markings could potentially be beneath the cladding. the copper boiler is untested and is supplied without a current boiler certificate.
The paintwork has numerous age and use-related marks, chips, scratches, staining and areas of paint loss. There is general dirt, tarnishing and surface oxidation to the exposed mechanical components and fittings. The cab and bodywork also show areas of wear and cosmetic deterioration.
